Ov Kazuaria - Debka in Tel Aviv Phantoms Motel We have Been Called To Go Asking For Stars Do&Redo Long Distance The Tribe

We have been called to go
Quartet

A shared identity is created when four characters meet in the Israeli circle …

The piece examines the myths of the Israeli culture. It uses typical folklore rituals of the Israeli society: Folk dancing, sing-a-long, beacon lighting at the independence celebrations, siren blowing at the Memorial Day, casual mixed-nuts eating etc. These rituals remain the same throughout the years, since the establishment of the state of Israel until today, while the society itself is rapidly and radically changing. This growing gap between form and content creates a surreal feeling and absurd.
The choreography originates from the original folk dancing, and mixes it with new and original movement. The circle that is the base for the folk-dances is also the starting point for the piece and the motivation for the events on stage. The sabra plant is a symbol for the native Israeli people, as well as for the Israeli State itself.
